Fibromyalgia care

Fibromyalgia, how do you detect, how do you treat? What do your clients who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia have in common? Do you have a protocol, or is everyone of them different? I now have met several with the diagnosis and see some commonality. Forum on Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) "I work with several patients whom have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Doc's don't know what to for it other than throwing drugs at it, although there seems to be some that do work for some patients. I have had some patients that have had Doc's just throw one medication after another with some patients on a cocktail of several medications. I have found with palpation, as I describe it to patients, that the tissues feel like "glue". There are also tender points within the fascia that are present, and pain that seems to travel. Slow myofascial release therapy, I have found, works well with my patients suffering from FM. It is slow enough, I feel, for the nervous system to adjust to the information of the tissue to respond. There are other reports that suggest a lack of vitamin D and B12 play a role with FM, as well as past trauma that has not been resolved in the tissues.". Andrew Wolfe, LMP
